Re-discover your life through sobriety
Recovery is discovery
Imagine waking up without a hangover, with a tomorrow full of possibilities, not problems. Imagine just waking up well-rested. It seems so simple, but here you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, again.
It’s time to let your baggage go and find real rest and recovery.
Re-discover life.
“SAM goes above and beyond to ensure that every individual receives the care and attention they need to heal. I am forever grateful for the impact they had on my life.”
SAM's House
Formally, we’re Southern Alcare Manor, but you can call us SAM or SAM’s. Everyone here does.
At SAM’s, we’ve been where you are. We’ve been on the street and in flophouses, and we’ve been through the system, sometimes more than once, to get clean. Many of us actually took our first steps to sobriety right here at SAM’s.
That’s why we do things a little differently. And it’s why we’re confident our program works.
Our program
But, we require two things from everyone who walks through our doors:
Now, that may sound like fantasy to you. Many of our residents don’t believe it when they come in. But know that if you follow our advice, we guarantee you’ll discover how rich sober life can be.
FAQ
How much does it cost?
The full 3 month program is absolutely free for all Albertan Residents with an Alberta Health Care Number. Residents can apply to receive Government assistance for their personal expenses, if they are unemployed.
How long is the waitlist?
The waitlist changes from month to month, depending on who’s looking for help and which of our residents are moving out. However, we encourage everyone who applies to email us regularly after application so we know you are still looking for a bed and haven’t found a space in an alternative recovery space.
How do I get in?
It starts with a 10 day detox. After that, simply apply and have a sincere desire to abstain from drugs and alcohol. If you’re willing to do the work, so are we. See our full admission criteria.
What should I bring? What’s allowed?
We don’t allow any non-prescribed drugs, alcohol or marijuana (prescribed or not). We also don’t allow any weapons. See a full list of what you need, and what to avoid.
Are you a men’s or women’s only facility?
We are a co-ed facility, helping both men and women.
Can I keep my job while going through the system?
Yes, however we expect all residents to stay in the building for the first month. After that first month, we encourage all residents to find or resume the job or training they were in before they became residents, or even go out and start looking for a job.
Recovering downtown Lethbridge
Addiction is a very visible problem in our downtown. Because we are headquartered downtown and see it every day, in the alley behind our building and at the street entrance.
It is our purpose to help these people off the street and into proper housing, with a clear mind and clean system.
By bringing the support needed for full abstinence to people who are forgotten, or raised without the privileges everyone in our community should expect, we are dedicated to cleaning up not just our resident’s lives, but the downtown core as well.
“SAM provides a unique and personalized approach to recovering that sets them apart from other facilities. I am so thankful for the positive impact they had on my life.”
